Benefits of Bilastine tablet

Bilastine is an antihistamine medicine which is widely used to treat allergic symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, redness of the nose, watery eyes, itching, and rash by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger known as histamine produced in the body during an allergic reaction. Bilastine is available in form of  tablet and syrup. The tablet form is used in adolescents and adults above 12 years of age, whereas orodispersible tablets and syrup are used in children aged 6 to 11 years.

Uses of Bilastine:

1. Hay Fever
Hay fever known as allergic rhinitis is a common disease that arises as a result of the body exposed to substances like pollen, animal fur and house dust mite which can cause body to produce allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, redness, itching, and watery eyes called hay fever. Hence, bilastine tablet is used to treat hay fever by releasing antibodies to foreign substances.

2. Urticaria
Urticaria or hives are itchy rashes that are found on the skin. It is triggered by an allergic reaction to food, medicines like antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines such as aspirin, high blood pressure medicine-captopril or other irritants in the environment. Bilastine tablet is used to treat symptoms of urticaria like itchy skin, swelling, redness, etc.

Safety Advice:

Liver:
Bilastine table to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver diseases. For dose adjustment, consult with a doctor.

Kidney:
Bilastine to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of kidney diseases. For dose adjustment, consult with a doctor.

Driving :
Bilastine tablet should be used with caution while driving as you may feel drowsy or sleepy after taking Bilastine.
